Customer FAQs
Live Auctions
How often are live auctions held, and how can I stay informed?
Live auctions are held approximately every 3 months. Our customers are informed via printed catalogs sent to them free of charge and/or via email. The catalogs are also available in electronic format on our website. To register for our customer list and newsletter, you can sign up on our website or contact us.
How can I participate in a live auction?
The ways to participate in a live auction are as follows:
• By attending the auction in person
• By written bid
• By telephone bid
A prerequisite for participating in the auction is the acceptance of its terms.
For in-person participation, we recommend arriving at the venue at least 20 minutes early to register and receive a bidder number. You can place bids on items of interest by raising your bidder number. The amount of each bid is determined and announced by the auctioneer; the bidding increments are predetermined, and amounts increase by approximately 10%. The lot is awarded to the highest bidder. You may also be represented by a third party, provided they declare both their own and your details. To participate with a written bid, you can submit your written offer by filling out the form which you can find here and at the end of our catalogs. The bid amount is the maximum you wish to offer, and the auctioneer represents you with the goal of achieving the lowest possible price up to your stated maximum amount. You can submit a written bid for as many lots as you wish. You can send the form by email or call our contact numbers and our staff will fill out the form on your behalf. Written bids can be submitted from the moment the auction catalogs are posted, up until one hour before the auction begins. It is recommended to submit your bid at least one day before the auction starts.
For telephone participation, the process is the same as for written bids, with the difference that you do not specify a maximum amount. During the auction, our representative will call you for the lots you have indicated, inform you of the live bidding progress, and you will decide your bids on the spot. As the process is fast, please provide a telephone number that you can access during the auction and respond to immediately. Should we be unable to contact you due to your unavailability, you will forfeit the right to claim the lot. Telephone bids can be submitted from the moment the auction catalogs are published until one hour before the auction begins. Submission up to one day before the auction starts is recommended. You may also be represented by a third party, provided they declare both their own and your details. Can I inspect the lots I am interested in?
Before each auction, inspection dates for lots are announced, usually lasting two weeks. We recommend a thorough inspection of all lots you intend to bid on. If you are outside Athens and cannot have a third party inspect the lots for you, please contact us, and we will provide all additional information and photos you require. You can also find additional photos of the lots on our website compared to our catalogs. Information and inspection of lots are strictly available until one day before the auction. For your best service, scheduling an appointment is recommended.
Can I attend an auction even if I don't want to participate?
You can attend our auction live at the venue, even if you do not wish to participate. Telephone attendance is not possible.
What is the starting price for auction lots?
Next to each lot description, you will find the estimated price. The lower of the two prices is the starting price. Your bids must be equal to or greater than the starting price. A lot may start at a higher price than its initial starting price if more than one written bid has been submitted.
What is the final cost for each lot I purchased?
The total payment amount for live auctions is the sum of the hammer price, our house commission of 17%, any intellectual property rights, and 24% VAT on the commission and intellectual property rights. In case of lot shipment, shipping costs are also borne by the buyer.
What are intellectual property rights for certain works?
For certain works of painting and sculpture, the buyer is additionally charged for their intellectual property rights, as well as 24% VAT thereon. If the artist of the work is alive or has passed away within the last 70 years, then a percentage is added to the hammer price: 5% for the portion of the hammer price up to €50,000, 3% for the portion from €50,000.01 to €200,000, 1% for the portion from €200,000.01 to €350,000, 0.5% for the portion from €350,000.01 to €500,000, and 0.25% for the portion exceeding €500,000. In any case, this total amount cannot exceed €12,500.
How and within what timeframe can I pay for my purchases?

- Bank transfer to our house’s account
- Cash for a total amount under €500
- Bank check
- Cash on delivery via ELTA or ELTA courier
- POS for collection from our offices

Shipments are made from the day after the auction, always by arrangement. Buyers must collect their purchases within 20 days of the auction.
How can I view and purchase unsold auction lots?
After the auction, unsold lots are available at the starting price, plus a 17% commission, any intellectual property rights, and 24% VAT on the commission and intellectual property rights. Online Auctions
How often are online auctions held, and how can I stay informed?
Online auctions are held more frequently than live auctions. We may have 3-4 auctions per month, and they are usually thematic. Our customer base is informed via newsletter. To register for our customer list and newsletter, you can sign up on our website or contact us.
How can I participate?
Online auctions are conducted exclusively electronically, through our website. To participate, you must first register. Subsequently, you select the lots you are interested in and place your bid. Bid retraction is only possible by contacting us and no later than 24 hours before the lot closes.
How long does an online auction last?
Once the list of items is uploaded, a timeframe, usually 10-15 days, is provided for you to place bids through the platform and to inspect the items in person. During this period, the current price and the number of bids are displayed. If a bid changes the highest bidder of a lot within the last minute, an additional 2 minutes are added to the closing time, allowing the previous highest bidder to respond and to prevent the use of “sniper” software. If no further bids are placed, the auction closes. Otherwise, the 2-minute period is renewed after each change of highest bidder. Bidders are notified via email if their bid is no longer the highest, so they can place a higher bid if they wish. The closing time is not simultaneous for all items in the online auction. Items close with a 2-minute difference according to their sequential number. It is recommended to be online at the close of the auction for the lots you are interested in and at a price higher than your current bid.
What bids can I place? What is the starting price?
At the start of the online auction, the starting price of each lot is displayed in green letters. Once bids are placed for that specific lot, the price in green indicates the current price. Below the bidding box, the minimum bid you can place is shown. The minimum bid price is determined by existing bids. If there is already a higher bid than yours, the current price will change to be higher than your bid, giving you the opportunity to place a larger bid. The system immediately notifies you if you are the highest bidder with the message “High Bid”. If you are no longer the highest bidder, you will be notified via email. Each bid differs from the previous one by approximately 10%. Bid retraction is only possible by contacting us and no later than 24 hours before the lot closes.
Can I inspect the lots in person?
Yes. For the duration of the online auction, you can inspect the lots at our offices, up to one business day before its closing.
What is the final payment amount?
