Frequently Asked Questions for Consignors
What items are you interested in?
At our auction house, we are interested in collectible items, primarily of Greek interest. Books, documents, photographs, maps, prints, collectible items, modern prints, and artworks. Through our website, you can browse our past live auction catalogs and get an idea of our work.
Upon contacting our offices, you can send a list of the items you have for sale, along with photographs, for an initial selection and to schedule an appointment to view them in person. How will the starting price be determined?
Our specialized staff, with many years of experience in the field and market knowledge, determines the estimated price in cooperation with the seller. Rarity, condition, and market appeal play a role in determining the price.
I have many items and cannot bring them to your premises. Can you come to my location?
When the volume of items is large, we can come to your location, always by prior arrangement.
Why should I leave my items at your premises?
Items that we decide to include in the auction are received, photographed, described, and made available at our premises for inspection by potential buyers. In very rare cases, an item may remain in your possession until its sale.
Will all the items I bring be included in the auction?
It is possible that one or more works/items from those selected may ultimately not be included in the auction. These will be returned to you before the auction or along with the auction settlement, and you will also be informed of the reason for their exclusion.
Can I withdraw the item before the auction?
If the item you brought has been included in the catalog, to withdraw it, you must pay 20% of the average estimated price listed in the catalog.
I want to sell my items immediately and not wait until the next auction. Are there options?
In some cases, the items you bring may be purchased directly or entered into an online auction. This will be determined by the type of items, the potential interest, and the scheduling of online auctions.
What is your commission percentage?
Our commission rate is 17% (excluding special agreements), to which 24% VAT is added.
What is the final amount I will receive for the items sold?
The final amount you will receive is the hammer price minus a 17% commission and 24% VAT on the commission amount.
How will I be informed if the item was sold at the auction?
You can attend the live auction and see the result on the spot. If you cannot be present at the auction, you will be informed during the first week after the auction.
What happens if the item I brought is not sold?
Unsold items are available at the starting price for 30 days after the auction. If there is an offer at a price lower than the starting price, you will then be informed to decide whether or not to accept the offer. If the item remains unsold after 30 days, it is returned to the consignor within 45 days from the auction. The consignor must collect the unsold items no later than 90 days after the auction.
When and how will I be paid?
Seller settlements are made within 45 days of the auction, provided they have already been paid by the buyers. Payments are made to the bank account you will specify.
